FST's Environmental Policy

In 2004, FST established an Environmental Management System with the assistance of National Quality Assurance Limited.  This was implemented and certification to ISO 14001 gained in May 2005.  A copy of our ISO 14001 manual is attached.  Our policy states that we are committed to protecting the environment through the management of those operations associated with the operations of FST which may have an overall negative environmental impact.  Furthermore we are striving to continually improving our environmental performance through:

  • Improved waste handling, storage and disposal, including the increased recycling of wastes where appropriate
  • Forming close relationships with our contractors and suppliers to encourage the adoption of best environmental practices
  • Reducing our energy consumption
  • Ensuring the environmental risks associated with our site are minimised as far as possible.

FST have established a "Green Team" who meet on a monthly basis to discuss environmental issues and the impact that our production has upon the environment.  The Green Team reports on a monthly basis to the Operational Management Team.

FST have a long-established policy for recycling all waste materials, including toner cartridges, paper, packaging, aluminium cans and plastics.  Bins are provided in all offices and within the canteen to ensure employees have access to correct recycling bins.  Packagings such as boxes & pallets are, where possible, reused within the organisation or are recycled.

All light switches and heaters within the facility have notices on them reminding staff to conserve energy by switching off lights when not required.
FST have an Approved Vendors List for the procurement of lithographic print and in selection for this AVL, organisations are required to state their adoption and certification of FSC.
